What is your AV signature in SL?

Crap raised a very interesting question on his blog with this post about Fashion and your AV.
Wind-Up Midgets need Fashion too
Basically, what is there about your AV that sets it apart from all the others, and does it reflect you. Can people recognize you from your AV appearance, without referencing your name tag.
That got me to thinking, as Crap has that tux and windup key as his signature.
When I first started playing, I thought my AV would be this nice dragon I found, but as I got into building, I found the wings got in the way. So I switched to a basic male AV with a hard hat. I got a pirate thing going on, but again, I found my mood changes a lot, and with it, my AV. I have a very large collection now, and vary between Male, female, robot, fembot, Huge city destroying monster, tiny furries, etc. I have little connection with any of the subcultures within SL, except with the podcasters, yet I’m not a podcaster myself.
I state in my profile that I’m a morph, subject to change without warning and little provocation into another form to suit either/or the situation and my mood. I think most of my forms are rather fashionable, but I have no theme other than that I have no theme. My only common feature IS my nametag. My name itself is odd enough not to be pigeonholed into a specific role. (whereas Crap seems destined for only one hole…)
Having a theme or signature that helps define you apart from the other 6 million inhabitants of SL, who, with enough lindens and desire, can duplicate your appearance) sounds great.
Apart from using the new sculpties and creating a unique AV, I’m not sure it’s possible. I suppose I can always wear a specific color, or always have a Skull and crossbones item on me would help.
Anyway, I bring it up as I would love to see some discussion on this.

hmmm — does it count that I always wear glasses and have freckles? How about my tag, which announces that “there is only one beladona Memorial?

Well, we’re supposed to not use the name tag.
Glasses and freckles are good. though one has to get pretty close to see the freckles, I imagine.
I think this is why all cartoon characters never change their clothes. It’s the only way to tell them apart from the others. In cartoons, the clothing combinations is the heraldry to identify the character, and used as a means to set a baseline for the character.

For me I’d say the most instantly recognizable thing would be my home made prim beard. I’ve still not seen anyone else with a lengthy goatee like mine… But I dunno. I suppose I look a bit ‘generic bikery hairy guy’, I don’t even know if I am recognizable on sight.

i used regular prim to create my own unigue catfive avatar, though now with the sculpty prims I have begun to cut down the # of prims I used by making new scuplted prims. In fact the very first thing I did in SL was go about creating a unique avatar for myself, something a bit more Toony than all the sims looking human avatars. Long live the toons!

This is like one of those personalty tests… If I asked everyone that I know in SL to say how they best recognize me I would have no idea what anyone would say. Can a personality stand out as a signature? Hmmm… Well, I’d like to think that my SL signature is my quirky personality… but I’d settle for my black hair :) just a simple squirrel… what can I say… :)

and I rely somewhat on my name — there is indeed [at the moment] only one beladona….

Oh and I think “Crap M.” is really cool, hey Crap, submit a tiny story at my reading garden please. :-D http://slurl.com/secondlife/Oslar/224/11/265

Uva - I’m still trying to condense down a story to that brief, but I’m still thinking in 100 word stories mode.
Maybe I need to practice in Twitter? ;)

My black constellation skin and overall black and white motif make me somewhat recognizable. Like many others I change my look randomly but generally staying in the ‘human’ genre.

Well … I finally broke down and make myself an alt :-(
Yep! Uva Jane Oxide. What happened was two things, first it was all the tree hugging. Or maybe all the tree hugging jokes more than the tree hugger. OK, but the clincher was that I’ve been exploring art galleries to submit my art to. And I really like art, love being in galleries and talking about art. And everywhere I went, with my damn green particle cooties (that I have now tried to delete 3 times:-( the conversation would go something like. This. I’d over hear a group of people and artist talking about art, yeah! I’d walk over to them or around a wall to see the art and be in chat range, and …
;Ah I think I see a walking tree!
OMG!! a tree
like your AV tree..
Now what was I talking about.
Just like that the art conversation went POOF! and I can’t join in :-( so I made Jane. Uva Jane Oxide wears my tree collar, (like a pet collar I guess) and she wears a shirt that is a picture of me, the one from my profile. But, the best thing about wearing Jane is that people ignore her (well guys talk to her and that OK ) But, they talk about the art! and stuff around. And I can go to galleries and crowded shows with out all my flexi green and pollen particles.
