I still consider myself new to SecondLife. I am now 6 months old. Crazy to think 6 months of my life has been essentially involved with a game that has nothing to do with racing cars or fitting little blocks together (ahem, these are the only other sorts of computer/ video games that have captured my attention for any significant amount of time.)
Yes, I still consider myself new…I’m constantly striving to improve my avatar’s appearance (my god my nose bugs me everytime I log in), batteling the fundamentals of building and land ownership. I will admit I spend way too much time and money on shopping, and most recently deleting too many cubes and cylinders.
However, recent RL events have shone a light of perspective upon on my SL exisitence. Funny how that can happen. I didn’t even realize I needed a flashlight let alone a spotlight. I didn’t realize how insidious this game has been. You ever get in your car, head to your destination and realize that you’ve arrived and can’t really recall the route you took to get there — as if time just went *PooF* — well, in retrospect, that’s how the last 6 months have felt. I have come up for air and its as though my whole perspective has been altered. Everything is great but I feel somewhat unnerved at how I went from crazy pigtailed newbie freak to here (whatever that means) - perhaps inside I am still a bit of that pigtailed newbie freak.

wow…..i messed that up! I meant to say you CAN race cars in SL, and building in SL is a lot like fitting little blocks together…In fact, I would go so far as to say a majority of SL is either chatting or fitting little blocks together..at least for me..heh
