Web-IM fixed
Posted by Mark Barrett on December 14th, 2006
One of the scripts didn’t respond. Not sure what happened there, maybe a sim restart left the script unresponsive. Unfortunately my side of the logic had a flaw that it wouldn’t let the message get past the ‘broken script’. Normally, when a message server is no longer available, it’s marked as deleted and another xml-rpc call to the next message server is placed. In this case, the error message didn’t trigger deletion, but the message server was also not marked as having been accessed. That caused the hangup. Anyway, all techno babble aside, everything’s good, and what was good is even better now.

I should probably also rename the Web IM to SL Pager or something along those lines. Because at the moment it’s more of a one-way instant messaging tool.
And it needs some more features. I can think of at least one person who might prefer being able to turn off the web-based messaging for them.
