Strange Behavior

Hello everybody,
Almost every day is fun in Second Life.
Interesting people to meet, briljant conversations, nice games to play.
Although I like to put a little commercial aspect in every of my blogs this time I won’t.
This is serious talk. It is about intolerance. About communication.
And about giving people the benefit of the doubt.
I think that these words will ring a bell. Everybody has experienced intolerance in SL. In your early days, visiting an unknown island.
You asked “where am I” and people start talking nasty to you.
And you all had problems with communication. Miss understanding each other.
Maybe (just like right now… I’m dutch) because not all the avatars master the english language to it’s full extend.
Or maybe ..just maybe .. to not understand for the fun? of it.
And the benefit of the doubt…. come on .. even in RL we need THAT to survive. Don’t take things to personal is one rule to handle nasty situations. And “we are entitled to make mistatkes, that is what makes us human” is the other.
So, why all this words. Lets get to the point.
My partner Art Canning made a “big” mistake.
She reacted on an IM. But it was a group IM of Art&Artist Network. And rules say nobody should use group IMs. SO BIG OFFENSE.
And because she did do something like that earlier, about a month ago, it was the second offense….. so she was kicked out of the group.
She contacted one of the moderators (owners) of the group. SunShine was not willing to accept any apology. Rules are rules.
I applied for membership. But I was muted and not accepted because Art is my partner. I tried to moderate but no excuse.. rules are rules.
I contacted a second moderator (the partner/master of Sunshine)
(didn’t know that until I looked at his profile).
He was even more determined not to let Art back in again.
RULES ARE RULES.
So Art is very sad now. That group was important to her.
Lot’s of contacts in there and now she is kicked out.
Not easy to trace them all back. The member list of that group exceeds 900 avatars? (I thought the limit was 300!)
Why again do I write this blog ???
First of all I like to get this of my chest and let you know!
Secondly I would like everybody that is part of that group to take a stand and ask the moderators to have Art back on that group again.
Please be tolerant, communicate and forgive!!!!!!!

Hi Gal, I’ve read all your complain and really understand you (u talk better english when u say “I’m dutch”). This is not a defense or attack, but as a owner of 4 groups, I’d like to say that SL has become a world of spam. When a owner creates a group to a certain theme and announce the rules saying “no spam allowed”, that means the group owners are tired of repeating them self. Look in this way, u have a SIM (for example), u pay to create a group, u set up the group rules, u have a lot of work to join 900 avatars on it (900 it’s really hard to get it) and them people are using the group IM to spam theirs own business in your group. For me it’s not fair.
But I understand your real question, it’s was a mistake (even when it’s a second time, ok) But I think there would be some talk, and not mute u and BAN forever your girl. :/
And with that U won’t agree also. Actually I had some people spaming on my SIM group their own business, I’ve just talked nicely with them and no need to ban them, they understand my point and they do respect. Easier, to them easier to me.
They might thinking “A have 900 avatars why should I be worry about 1 girl” pretty messy. But if the reason it’s just the group contacts, easy to track them, create an alt avatar, join group and save all names that u want to a notecard, pass it to your girl avatar and she will be able to add them of IM them.

Cu and don’t stress about about that, second life it is build for fun. Let the others use the drama and their intolerance. How they say here in my country “the last to laugh, laugh better”.
