A Tale Of Two Islands

It’s interesting to compare the first 24 hours of Edloe and the first 24 hours of Nowhereville 2.0.
There was a lot of side-drama and conflict swirling around Edloe right after it appeared, but folks appeared to have had a plan for their builds and things built up very quickly. Sure, there were quite a few changes to the original plans folks had, with the canals and other features developing over time, but after three days the group effort completely blew me away.
Nowhereville 2.0 is developing a lot slower. I think people are taking their time in their builds or it’s not the weekend yet, so they’re busy with RL things.
I have a feeling that there’s going to be a building boom there this weekend, and then things will settle in nicely, folks will work to blend in the parcels as Edloe did, yadda yadda. The central harbor was mostly a command decision, but it provides greater sailing/tubing potential.
Kinda sad that the bridge needed to come down on Edloe. I’m sure Raz and Diva and Stu talk to Dedric about that wooden bridge design, and maybe we’ll work on a bridge between Edloe and Woodbridge with the walk-the-plank method of avoiding simbounce. Or perhaps a drawbridge that closes when people try to walk or drive across, but remains at a default open position. (Raz gave a door script that I used for the Poo Toll Booth and I want to experiment with tonight)
The 4-corners area has finally been flattened. I’m hoping something builds up there for maximum concert/conferencing potential.
I know there’s a lot of emotion and happy memories wrapped up in this little sim, and I’m hoping that we all build many more in the future together.
