missing.....

As those of you who keep up with my RL know, I was unemployed for 46 days. During that time, I lived in world almost 24 hours a day! I became the top explorer, I was in the group of 10 with the most amount of time logged in, I took a myriad of snapshots and posted them. I truly felt as tho I was living in world!
It was a real shock to return to the RL work-a-day life that I had left behind, but as much as I love SL, no one seems willing to pay me for being an avid consumer and community member…
I blogged when I slipped from the #1 explorer position in “sic transit gloria”. Now I report that on Thursday, March 15th, I fell out of the group that has spent the most hours logged in. And yesterday, Wednesday March 28th, I fell out of the top 10 explorers list. I still wander about a great deal, but the explorer’s list only counts when you go to a NEW sim, not when you see something new in a sim that you have previously visited — and I just don’t have the hours in the day to devote to SL that I had before.
I know that SL is not a game — no one keeps score. Is SL an addiction? That I do not know. I do know that I am homesick — even with all the problems of lag, limits, having to relog constantly becuase I am still plagued with the “arrive-with-all-attachments-stuck-in-your-butt” syndrome, and the drama that seems to be so pervasive — becuase I have formed some very strong relationships here and I miss them.
Of course I also miss being able to have stunning hair with a click, walking 24/7 in 5″ heels if I want to without my feel hurting, managing my weight with slider bars and being able to TP rather than commute, but those are all topics for a different blog, methinks….

Some day though there will be people paid to be active community members, you’ll see. As this platfrom grows, and people come in search of expierences, those that “know” SL will become paid tour guides and hosts.
And I am not talking about a few Lindens a hour, but real US$. Sounds crazy? Well crazy is a person who decided last April when there was less than 200K residents (and we all know that represents prolly less than 100K in RL people) to stop all outside world economic pursuits and only focus on SL… now that was crazy! lol
Have a great few months in your last RL job because I believe that by next year, you will find someone who will pay you to explore SL…..
Free idea of the day… A “Let’s Go SL” / “Hitchhikers Guide” type of website, with travel descriptions updated monthly is badly needed…. Charge a small monthly access feed to exclusive parts of the site…
Well I am back to my crazy life in SL

I feel bela’s pain. I’m not able to spend the time in SL that I have in the past… nor is Sierra. But I sure enjoy the time that I do get to talk with each of you and to share in our community. There are some very good friendships that have formed and I value each of them.
Does SL need a media relations/safety educator type dude, too?
