Do you have an alt ? AV character and why did you build him or her or it ?

Way back in blog history, Razzap Snookums started a topic called:
WHAT IS YOUR AV SIGNATURE IN SL ?
This was a good conversation, and I joined in the fun, I’m a tree, I like being a tree, I didn’t want an alt AV, but I just made one and the reason was / is the same reason I made my AV a tree in the first place, I’m an artist.
So here is a link to that old conversation, and a thread to continue it, :-)

Well … I finally broke down and make myself an alt :-(

Yep! Uva Jane Oxide. What happened was two things, first it was all the tree hugging. Or maybe all the tree hugging jokes more than the tree hugger. OK, but the clincher was that I’ve been exploring art galleries to submit my art to. And I really like art, love being in galleries and talking about art. And everywhere I went, with my damn green particle cooties (that I have now tried to delete 3 times:-( the conversation would go something like. This. I’d over hear a group of people and artist talking about art, yeah! I’d walk over to them or around a wall to see the art and be in chat range, and …
:Ah !? I see a walking tree!
:OMG!! a tree
:like your AV tree..
:Now what was I talking about?
Just like that the art conversation went POOF! and I can’t join in :-( so I made Jane. Uva Jane Oxide wears my tree collar, (like a pet collar I guess) and she wears a shirt that is a picture of me, the one from my profile. But, the best thing about wearing Jane is that people ignore her (well guys talk to her and that OK ) But, they talk about the art! and stuff around. And I can go to galleries and crowded shows with out all my flexi green and pollen particles.

Heh. Well, after all my constant morphen, I found my signature. Little green man from mars. With antenna. Of course, now I like being who I am, I created a second AV who is not locked down in appearance, and can blend in with the more conventional without being stared at like a little green man from mars. That would be the main reason.

I’ve a second avatar that I use when I want to get some work done without constant IM interruption. It is also handy when I just want to join the crowd to hear live music events without being — again — constantly interrupted with IM conversation. Sometimes I just want to explore and move about in private. :)

Dr. Fran’s Mental Health Missives/SL Friday podcast covered a topic this might apply on this… although I’m not sure an anthropomorphic tree quite matches up with a ketchup bottle in that study.
