Medieval England’s Harvest Faire

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 17th, 2008 (33 days ago)

On October 18 and 19 (Saturday and Sunday), 2008 RPG Empire’s Medieval England will hold a Harvest Faire event. So, what is this Harvest Faire thing? Honestly, I am not familiar with it but I stumbled upon a Harvest Faire website and according to that website:

“Harvest Faire is a modern interpretation of a late 15th century European fall harvest celebration and tournament. Entertainers and a market mix with the sounds of good-natured martial competition and the smells of period cooking. Watch a craftsperson plying their trade, try your hand at games of chance and skill, and cheer for the warrior of your choice at the Field of Honors. - HarvestFaire.org”

A Look at Sydney Harbour 1808

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 16th, 2008 (34 days ago)

I wrote about my visit to Sydney Harbour 1808 just a few minutes ago but it seems that it took me too long that my session time expired before I could finish writing it and because of that the editor didn’t save what I wrote when I clicked on the save button. Instead, it asked me to login again. Arrgh! This made me remember why I like Wordpress better than Joomla when it comes to writing and editing text. Anyway, I’ll try to re-write a brief one this time.

In my initial visit to Sydney Harbour 1808 I landed underwater. I tried to get out of the water by sitting but unfortunately I haven’t rezzed enough yet to see any chairs to sit on. I teleported back home and tried again at a later time. After a while I received a message from the owner of Sydney Harbour, GaiaGirl Gigamon, informing me that she has fixed the landing area. I went back after a few hours and this time I landed on the pier infront of the Rum Rebel Inn.

A Look at Renaissance Island

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 16th, 2008 (34 days ago)

A few days ago I went and visit Renaissance Island, an RP and Combat sim set in medieval times. I got the landmark to Renaissance Island from Dale Harmison’s jousting group in Second Life. The landmark dropped me right beside the Jousting Arena but I didn’t want to start there. Now, when I landed near the jousting arena I received a welcome message and a notecard with information about the sim. In that notecard are landmarksto various key locations in the sim and since I wanted to start my personal tour from the beginning I choose and opened the most obvious starting location which is the Common Area.

At the common area, you will find a calendar of the sim’s upcoming events, a sign that gives out information about the sim in a notecard, a dummy named Goody Throckmorton and a carriage stop. The carriage stop works like this, you touch it and then a ridable horse drawn carriage appears in-front of you. You can then ride the carriage and it will take you to various locations around the sim. I only rode it to take a quick snapshot but did the exploring on foot.

A Look at Egypt Valley of the Gods

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 16th, 2008 (34 days ago)

Today I visited Egypt Valley of the Gods. A roleplay and combat sim inspired by ancient Egypt and owned by Skyyy McCallen and Lurgan Ling. They were once the rulers of RPG Empire’s Egyptian Empire but unfortunately it was closed but, now, they have their own Egyptian sim to rule. I only found out about it while I was at Medieval England. It seems that they have some roleplay going on between each other. The Pharaoh gave me a landmark and I also requested to be added to the group so that I could get notices of events and other updates.

As always, my visit starts at the landing area where you will find a teleporter that will take to, what it seems to be, four major locations on the sim. These locations are; 1. Arena of the Gods, 2. Harem, 3. Bast Temple and 4. The Pyramid. Of course there are other locations that were not listed like the Market, the Bathhouse and others. Oh, I almost forgot the mighty Nile River.

Horseback Fighting

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 15th, 2008 (35 days ago)

I was at Medieval England today to buy a weapon specially made for horseback fighting but things happened and I was only able to buy the weapon at the end of the scheduled horseback tournament. Anyway, before the tournament started I had a spar with a guy named Halo. He was very eager to fight. In fact, he was too eager that he suddenly attacked and killed me while I was waiting for my DCS2 update. Oh well, maybe that’s his character’s RP. He he he! A knight named conor told him that he should wait until his opponent is ready before attacking but it’s no biggie because I just wanted to know if I can still fight and I found out that I need a lot of practice still. LOL!

For the horseback fighting tournament, unfortunately, there wasn’t many participants. I guess most fighters find horseback fighting tournaments expensive because one of the main requirement is having a horse and we all know how expensive horses are in Second Life. The King said that there are AKK horses that cost only 1,000L$ but still that’s a lot of money

Where is Dark Century?

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 15th, 2008 (35 days ago)

My home in Second Life is at Animate Me Poseballs which is somewhat connected to Dark Century’s first sim but today, while checking the RPG Empire continent, I noticed that the area is blank. At first, I thought it was just a rolling re-start or something like that but hours later the location where Dark Century I and II are located are still blank. I clicked on the grid square and what displayed is an “Offline” message. This is somewhat weird since I have not receive any notice about Dark Century closing or moving.

What I did next was, I went to The Spartan Empire and walked to the edge of the sim that faces Dark Century I. As I was nearing the edge, I was kinda expecting to see land masses form as I get nearer but nothing appeared. When I finally reached the edge, what greeted me was an open sea. No land mass! No Dark Century! […continue reading Where is Dark Century?]

A few changes in Medieval England

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 13th, 2008 (37 days ago)

RPG Empire’s Medieval England (Medevil England sim) has undergone a few changes these past few days. So, I went to there to check out these changes.

When I landed, the King (and owner) of Medieval England, Enrich Halasy, was at the Wharf and since I was still rezzing, I just stayed at the landing area until I (my SL viewer) eventually crashed. LOL! There was nothing I can do about it except relog which I did but this time rezzing was a little bit quicker. I also noticed Shay Daviou of Nippon standing right beside the King wearing a very seductive outfit. LOL! […continue reading A few changes in Medieval England]

Earn Linden Dollars with eLab City Panel

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 13th, 2008 (37 days ago)

A few days ago I received an e-mail from Franks Martinek about their research panel in Second Life called eLab City Panel for the University of California (Riverside). Currently, they are looking for members to build up a panel of future research participants and that they will pay each resident who signs up 100L$.

It sounded interesting so I went to their office in-world to check it out and to learn more about their research panel, besides, it’s an easy 100L$ if I sign up which I did. There, you’ll find everything you need to know about eLab City Panel. I would have posted their full FAQ here but I think it’s better to visit their location so you can sign up after learning more about them. Below is a brief introduction about what eLab City Panel is. The Roman Empire Sim

Posted by Rom Ireton on October 11th, 2008 (39 days ago)

Recently, I received a message from mikeD Streeter informing me about the changes that they did in The Roman Empire sim. The Roman Empire is the flagship sim of RPG Empire. As far as I know, the success of The Roman Empire gave birth to other empires which later on became the RPG Empire continent in Second Life.

The first change I noticed is at the landing area. More shops were added and the floor texture was changed as well. I also noticed that the pillars that supports most, if not all, of the shops are now colored red and most of the textures that make up the shops were changed too.
